The Brandywine Valley Baseball Organization is a 501(c)3 AAU Club vying for a position as the premiere not for profit organization for the development of competitive baseball in the Brandywine Valley.
Players that affiliate with BV have a chance to qualify and play in AAU, USSSA and CABA World Series events. They also have the opportunity to play in The National Youth World Series. BV’s two Primary sponsors are Under Armour and The Sports Performance Institute, giving the BV players an advantage over other athletes.
During the fall, spring, and summer the players compete in tournament level leagues and participate in various tournaments at world class facilities (Cal Ripken, Diamond Nation, Sports at The Beach, ESPN World Wide of Sports, East Cobb and Cooperstown All Star Village).
The primary goal of the BV Big Dogs is to develop baseball players for high school baseball and beyond, through playing competitive amateur baseball at the highest possible level. We endeavor to achieve our goal by building character through teaching the value of a strong work ethic, commitment to a goal, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and the promotion of a winning attitude. We, as coaches, stress the “right way to play the game” through teaching the fundamentals and respect for the rich heritage of the game of baseball. With BV, winning is the result of “building character though competition.”
We feel the benefit of teaching these values will produce resilient young men and women of outstanding moral character with a solid foundation of life-skills with which to grow into quality role models for youth of the future.
The organization plays a vital role in helping the players grow as players and citizens. We are looking to recruit players from 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U; and girls softball from 12U to 16U.
In 2004, BV was formed to provide boys who loved baseball an opportunity to play competitive baseball regardless of their ability to pay. BV is able to provide this opportunity by keeping costs down through minimized expenses, volunteer positions in lieu of paid staff and, most importantly, fundraising. The original colors of BV were black, silver and white and remained that way until 2013. In the late fall season of 2013 blue was added to remember and honor two great men who lost their courageous battle with colon cancer that fall: Mike Dolceamore and Steve Santoleri.
The organization now is committed to promoting colon cancer awareness and added a blue ribbon on the BV hats and started a scholarship in their names to provide partial and or full funding to a family in need beginning in the spring of 2014. The grants will be awarded semi-annually and selection will be based on need with a preference to someone who has been affected by colon cancer or another life threatening illness.
